What is Bleach And How Does It Work For Washing Plant? TEXTILE FARM

                               Bleaching Agent

Bleaching is a Chemical that can remove or lighten the color, usually via oxidation.

The bleaching agent is that agent which is used for reduced color from garments. It has variously used in other industries also. Based on constitution bleach are two types,

                              1. Chlorine Bleach.
                              2. Non-Chlorine Bleach.

There are several types of bleach. Chlorine bleach usually contains sodium hypochlorite. Oxygen bleach contains hydrogen peroxide or a peroxide-releasing compound such as sodium perborate or sodium percarbonate. Bleaching powder is calcium hypochlorite. Other bleaching agents include sodium persulfate, lithium analogs, calcium peroxide, zinc peroxide, sodium peroxide, carbamide peroxide, chlorine dioxide, bromated and organic peroxides.

While most bleaches are oxidizing agents, other processes can be used to remove color. For example, sodium dithionite is the powerful reducing agent that can be used as a bleach.

Chlorine Bleach:
Chlorine bleach contains chlorine at the different percentage. It activity depend on chlorine percentages. Chlorine bleach is two types.

                              1.  Sodium hypochlorite.
                              2.  Calcium  hypochlorite.

Sodium hypochlorite:
Its chemical formula is NaOcl. It can produce by the reactions of sodium hydroxide and gas.

                     Cl + NaOH = NaCl+ NaOCl + H2O.

It react with hydrochloric acid and release chlorine gas.

                    Naocl + HCl = Cl2 + H2+ Nacl.

It reacts with the metal and forms metal oxide.

                    Naocl + Zn = ZnO + Nacl

Sodium chloride especially found in the liquid form.

Calcium hypochlorite:
Calcium chloride is also one chlorine.  The basic difference form sodium chloride is liquid and calcium chloride is powder form. Powder form is easy to handle and transport. The chemical formula is Ca(ocl)2. It is widely used for water   treatment. The chemical is greater availability and stability than sodium chloride.

Manufacturer:
Chlorine reacts with calcium hydroxide and formed calcium hypochloride calcium chloride and water

                     Cl2 + Ca(OH)2 = Ca(OCl)2 + CaCl2 + 2H2O

Bleaching powder is the mixture of calcium hypochlorite and calcium chloride. It is yellow-white color solid powder and 100% soluble in water. It has a high smell of chlorine. It is a great oxidizer.

How does bleach on the garments:
An oxidizing bleach works by breaking the chemical bonds of a chromosphere ( part of a molecule that has color). This changes the molecule so that it either has no color or else reflects color outside the visible spectrum.A reducing bleach works by changing the double of a chronopher into single bonds. This alters the optical properties of the molecule, making it colorless.
In addition to chemicals, energy can disrupt chemical bonds to bleach out color.
For example, the high energy photons is sunlight (e.g.,ultraviolet rays)can disrupt the bonds is chromophores to decolorize them.
